Medellín records five homicides in September, lowest in 50 years

Medellín recorded five homicides in September, its lowest monthly total in 50 years.

Some criminal groups may also be limiting violence to avoid attention from authorities.

But fewer murders do not mean that drug trafficking and extortion have disappeared.
