Two long-delayed games remain in development, with one targeting 2026

Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Squadron 42 are two games that have spent more than a decade in development without being released.

Ubisoft began work on Beyond Good & Evil 2 in 2007 and confirmed in January 2026 that it was still being developed.

The game is planned as an open-world space adventure and a prequel to the first Beyond Good & Evil.

It was last shown publicly at E3 in 2018.

Squadron 42 is a single-player first-person shooter set in the Star Citizen universe, made by Cloud Imperium Games.

Announced in 2012 and originally planned for release in 2014, it was described by the developer in December 2025 as fully playable and feature complete.

Its release is set for 2026, though the available information does not say whether it will meet that target.
