German prosthetic exports to Russia rise nearly 19% in first half of 2026

German exports of prostheses to Russia were worth €112 million in the first half of 2026, nearly 19% more than in the same period a year earlier.

The figure was the highest for a first half since 2020.

The increase came despite a wider decline in German exports to Russia, which fell 2.9% in the same period.

EU sanctions restrict trade with Russia, but medical equipment such as prostheses is exempt on humanitarian grounds.

Exports of medicines also rose, by about 18% to roughly €1.5 billion.

Companies active in Russia say they limit sales to essential health or agricultural goods, or cite food supplies.

The figures cover the first six months of 2026.
