India poll chief faces resignation calls over voter list changes

More than 130 million names have been removed from India’s voter list since revisions began in 2025.

A newspaper report said Kumar’s two deputies raised at least 14 formal objections to decisions about voter rolls and election systems.

Opposition parties say the changes may favor the government, but Kumar, the government and the election body deny wrongdoing.

The dispute matters because voter lists help decide who can take part in elections.
