Paulo Costa says he plans to fight outside the UFC

Paulo Costa, a Brazilian contender ranked fourth at light heavyweight, says he has not received a new fight offer from the UFC.

He last fought in April, when he knocked out Azamat Murzakanov in the third round.

Costa has been seeking a light heavyweight title fight, but champion Carlos Ulberg is out with a knee injury.

UFC president Dana White says Costa turned down several offers, while Costa says he has not been offered a fight.

Costa says he plans to fight at an event by the end of the year, but he has one fight left on his UFC contract and must complete it before he can receive offers elsewhere.

The dispute leaves his next opponent and promotion unclear.

The PFL and MVP MMA have merged and hope to compete with the UFC in 2027, but no deal with Costa is reported.

What people are saying

Nothing from the UFC. I’m going to fight at an event at the end of the year. I’m in great shape and in my prime. I’m going to do what I love – fight somewhere.
