Kenya plans 9,000 more polling stations for 2027 election

Kenya’s electoral commission plans to increase the number of polling stations before the August 10, 2027 General Election.

It projects 55,393 stations, compared with 46,229 used in the 2022 election.

The plan is based on the commission’s target of registering 6.3 million new voters before the vote.

The commission has also proposed raising the maximum number of voters assigned to each station from 700 to 1,000.

That proposal faces resistance in the National Assembly.

The planned increase in stations is intended to prepare for the larger voter roll.

Parliament is considering the proposal, but the sources do not say what decision it will make.
