Man, 77, questioned in 2006 murder case of Chantal Seguineau

A 77-year-old man is being questioned in the unsolved killing of Chantal Seguineau in Gironde, southwestern France.

Seguineau was a 32-year-old vineyard worker who disappeared on 28 April 2006 and was found dead five days later in woodland near Saint-Martin-du-Bois.

She was found with her hands tied and injuries to her head, but no one was charged in the case.

Investigators say the man worked in her professional circle and was among the last people to see her alive.

New DNA checks are part of the renewed investigation, after unknown male DNA was found on items connected to the case.

Authorities stress that he is not considered a suspect and that there is no certainty about his involvement.

Investigators are checking whether his DNA matches the unknown profiles as they work through new leads.
