La bola negra becomes Spain’s eighth-highest-grossing Spanish film

La bola negra, a Spanish drama written and directed by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, has earned €23.5 million at cinemas.

That puts it eighth among Spanish films by box-office revenue, according to provisional figures.

It has moved ahead of three films, including Ágora and Torrente 2: Mission in Marbella.

The ranking does not adjust for inflation or differences in ticket prices over time.

The film has sold 3.7 million tickets, a separate measure that still leaves it short of the 4.3 million needed to reach tenth place on the all-time attendance list.

Its revenue is far below the top Spanish film, Ocho apellidos vascos, which earned €56.1 million.

If its current box-office strength continues, La bola negra could climb further, but it has not yet reached the top five.
