Hyderabad probe links account network to nearly 450 cybercrime cases

A Hyderabad man lost ₹7.93 lakh after people on Facebook promised him ₹45 lakh for an old ₹1 note.

His complaint led Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police to investigate how the money moved.

Police arrested two men in Ramanthapur on October 8, accusing them of collecting bank accounts and SIM cards for cyber fraudsters.

Investigators say the accounts and SIM cards came from about 60 to 70 people and were sent to associates in Haryana.

Police suspect the network is linked to nearly 450 cybercrime cases across India and transactions worth ₹60 crore to ₹70 crore.

The two men are accused of taking commissions and knowing the accounts and SIM cards would be used for fraud.

Police say the investigation is continuing, including into another accused who is absconding.
