Krasnoyarsk expands property tax relief for large families
Krasnoyarsk has expanded a property tax break for large families after the city council approved a change, according to the city’s head, Sergey Vereshchagin.
The exemption already applies to families with three or more children while the children are under 18.
The new rule includes older children who study full time at colleges or universities until they turn 23.
Around 15,000 families currently use the exemption, and about 1,800 more families are expected to qualify under the expanded rules.
The change matters because it lets eligible families keep the tax break after a child turns 18 while continuing their education.
Families can first use the expanded exemption in 2028; another account says the changes are due to take effect on January 1, 2027.
