Podemos candidate calls for wealth redistribution ahead of Spain’s November election

Irene Montero, a Podemos candidate for Spain’s prime minister, spoke at a party event in Getafe, near Madrid.

She urged supporters to make the 29 November general election a chance to elect people who would move wealth from the rich to working people.

Montero said the money should help people live with dignity and called for action to lower living costs and address housing.

She criticised the PSOE for not challenging the wealthy, and said the PP and Vox would protect them.

She also cited an 87-year-old woman who had been evicted and died in hospital, blaming a system that leaves people without secure housing.

Montero called for a peaceful world and more time for people to live.

The election is due on 29 November, and she asked supporters to campaign around these issues before then.
