Relics of young Catholic saint Carlo Acutis visit Melbourne school

Relics associated with Carlo Acutis were displayed at a Mass attended by about 500 students at Antonine College, a Maronite Catholic school in Melbourne’s Pascoe Vale South.

Acutis was an English-born Italian teenager who died of leukaemia in 2006, aged 15, and was declared a saint by Pope Leo in 2025.

He is known for using websites and social media to share his Catholic faith and for encouraging people to help others.

The relics on display included tissue from the sac around his heart and strands of his hair.

Students viewed them, received blessings and wrote prayers to be sent to his tomb in Assisi, Italy.

A Catholic lay group is taking the relics to 53 Australian cities over four months to encourage people, especially young people, to follow Jesus and do good.

The visit is part of a wider effort to introduce Acutis and his example to communities across Australia.
