Brazil’s farm exports near record, but final quarter is uncertain

Soybeans and meat are major drivers of the gains, with soybean exports reaching 100 million tonnes by September.
China, a key buyer of Brazilian soy and beef, bought 12% less Brazilian soy in September than a year earlier and sharply reduced beef purchases after its tariff-free import quota was used up.
China has been buying more US soy, while beef purchases fell 94% from September 2025.
Coffee and sugar exports have also brought in less money, as both export volumes and average prices declined.
Agricultural exports made up a smaller share of Brazil’s total export earnings than a year earlier, and the coming months will show whether the sector can stay near record levels.
