Alabama QB waits to congratulate Georgia rival after 20-17 loss

Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell waited after Saturday night’s game to congratulate Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton.

Georgia won 20-17 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, handing Alabama its first loss of the season.

It was Georgia’s first regular-season win over Alabama since 2007.

Stockton was giving a post-game interview when Russell waited nearby, even after an Alabama staff member told him to go to the locker room.

The two quarterbacks had not met before, and Stockton praised Russell’s gesture afterward.

Russell also said he needed to play better after the defeat, while Georgia coach Kirby Smart praised his ability.

The teams could meet again, but no future matchup was confirmed.
