ChildFund Korea develops measure of migrant-background children’s adjustment

ChildFund Korea has developed a tool to assess migrant-background children’s adjustment in South Korea.

It looks at areas including language confidence, friendships and school adjustment, as well as emotional stability and asking for help.

The measure was developed because existing tools may miss children’s specific experiences and the conditions they face in South Korea.

It is designed to identify both children’s adjustment levels and the difficulties and support they need.

ChildFund Korea plans to present the research at a Seoul event on October 27, where researchers and practitioners will discuss how the tool could be used.

The organization hopes agencies and schools will use it to shape tailored programs and assess their effectiveness.
