Pelle Larsson’s illness puts his preseason status in question

Miami Heat guard Pelle Larsson is recovering from a persistent illness during training camp.

He left Saturday’s exhibition game against Minnesota early because he was still feeling sick.

Larsson said he had headaches after catching something during the team’s preseason trip to Quebec City, and he returned to practice too quickly.

He is taking a gradual approach to returning, after doing limited work in Tuesday’s practice.

His status for Wednesday’s preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets is uncertain.

Larsson signed a four-year extension with Miami last month, but the team has other roster decisions to make before the season.

Center Vladislav Goldin’s two-way roster spot is not secure, especially if Miami keeps Nick Richards on its standard roster.

Coach Erik Spoelstra also said he expects Nikola Jovic to respond to a disappointing season, while second-round pick Ryan Conwell impressed with his playmaking.
