Zanellato marks 50 years with archive of 1,000 bags and plans for men's line

Italian leather goods company Zanellato is marking 50 years in business with a new archive at its headquarters in Vicenza.

The archive holds 1,000 bags that trace the company's creative history, including early and unique designs.

Its best-known bag, the Postina, has sold 500,000 copies in 15 years.

The company grew from a family business founded in 1976, first making sheepskin gloves from leftover coat materials.

Zanellato says it aims for sustainable, double-digit annual growth.

It also plans to launch a men's line, and creative director and chief executive Franco Zanellato says he has 100 designs ready.

A book about the company's history and creative work is due to be presented in Milan.
