Emily Armstrong says she doubted she could front Linkin Park

Emily Armstrong joined Linkin Park in 2024, years after singer Chester Bennington died by suicide in 2017.

Before joining, Armstrong was best known as the frontwoman of Los Angeles rock band Dead Sara.

She says she questioned whether she was suited to take on the role.

Armstrong decided not to imitate Bennington, but to perform the older songs in a way that could carry their emotional impact.

Her appointment drew criticism from Bennington’s mother, Susan Eubanks, who said she felt betrayed and believed the band was trying to erase the past.

A new documentary follows the band’s reunion and Armstrong’s first performances with them.

The film is titled Unshatter, and Armstrong says she feels fortunate to be part of the group.
