Russian lawmaker questions Trump’s claim of an energy ceasefire with Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Oct.

11 that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy ceasefire, effective immediately.

The claim concerns attacks on energy infrastructure during Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Igor Ananskikh, a senior member of Russia’s State Duma energy committee, said he had no information about a ceasefire.

He suggested Trump might be speaking to influence oil prices.

Another Russian lawmaker said he had not attended negotiations and referred questions to Trump’s press service.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Trump’s announcement was news to him.

Zelensky said Russia struck the CHP-5 power plant in Kharkiv after the announcement, and Ukraine’s Presidential Office confirmed the attack.
