Indonesia and Egypt Agree to Expand Cooperation, Set $5 Billion Trade Goal

Indonesia and Egypt agreed to expand cooperation during Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s state visit to Indonesia.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said the countries would work together on trade, investment and defense.

They also backed efforts to form an Economic Partnership Agreement to improve market access and investment opportunities.

El-Sisi said they aim to raise bilateral trade to $5 billion by 2030 and reduce barriers.

The two countries also agreed on visa exemptions, cooperation on statistics and fisheries, and an action plan for their strategic partnership.

They discussed a joint investment fund and possible projects, with Egypt seen as a route for Indonesian businesses to reach markets in Arab countries, Africa and Europe.
