Yvonne Whear, missing for nearly eight months, identified after body found in NSW stock dip

Yvonne Whear, 73, was identified after her body was found in a farm stock dip at Terragon, about 20 kilometres south of Murwillumbah in northern New South Wales.

She had been missing since February 19, when she was last seen driving towards her hobby farm near Dungay.

Two trail bike riders found her body last week, and forensic and post-mortem examinations confirmed her identity.

Police had searched for her and her gold Ford Escape SUV; the vehicle was found in the Rous River last month, less than 10 kilometres from her property.

Whear lived on the farm with animals, worked as a disability support worker and was studying art.

She was also due to appear at a tribunal over a long-running dispute about the lease of the farm, but there is no suggestion the proceedings were connected to her disappearance or that anyone involved did anything wrong.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
