Alberta employer ordered to pay former physiotherapist more than $1 million

An Alberta tribunal found that a former physiotherapist should receive compensation after leaving the job.

It awarded $40,000 for harm to the employee’s dignity and more than $965,000 in lost wages, plus interest.

The employer must also put an accommodation policy in place at its clinic.

The decision shows that how employers respond when workers resign can have serious consequences.
