Geely plans to start selling cars in Canada in 2027

Geely, a major Chinese automaker, plans to begin selling cars in Canada in 2027.

The company says it is setting up Canadian operations and building a retail and service network with local partners.

It has not said which models it will offer, or announced prices or dealer locations.

Geely’s announcement follows Canada’s decision to allow a limited number of Chinese-made electric vehicles to enter at a 6.1% tariff, while imports beyond the quota face a 100% tariff.

Other Chinese automakers, including BYD and Chery, have also announced plans to enter Canada.

Geely sells electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in other markets, but it has not confirmed which, if any, will come to Canada.

More details are expected closer to the planned launch.
