South Korea to host maritime law academy for 31 participants from 22 countries
South Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Korea Maritime Institute will hold the 13th Maritime Law Academy in Yeosu from Oct.
12 to 23.
The program is for maritime officials and researchers from developing countries, and 31 participants from 22 countries are expected to attend.
It began in 2014, and 474 people from 85 countries had taken part by the end of last year.
Eleven maritime law experts, including the president of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, will give lectures.
Participants will study the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and issues such as maritime boundaries, overlapping jurisdiction, autonomous ships and undersea cables.
They will also take part in workshops and discussions on current maritime issues.
