£20m penthouse goes on sale as South Bank redevelopment ends

A £20 million, four-bedroom penthouse has gone on sale in Seven, the final building of Southbank Place in London.

The development stands on the former Shell Centre site beside the River Thames, where the Shell Tower remains the oil company’s headquarters.

The wider project replaced three adjoining postwar office buildings with homes, shops and restaurants.

It was delivered by Braeburn Estates, a joint venture between Qatari Diar and Canary Wharf Group, at a stated cost of £1 billion.

The South Bank’s earlier regeneration followed the 1951 Festival of Britain, which brought cultural venues and a riverside walk to the area.

The new development marks another major change to the neighbourhood and includes luxury homes with views across central London.

The penthouse is on sale, but no buyer is identified.
