Houthis report airstrikes in areas they control in Yemen

Yemen’s Houthi rebels said airstrikes hit several areas under their control on Tuesday.

The Houthi-run broadcaster reported two strikes on Kamaran island in the Red Sea and another in Qanawis district, northwest of the port city of Hodeida.

It also reported strikes in Jawf province, which borders Saudi Arabia, and blamed Saudi Arabia, which did not immediately comment.

The Houthis said they shot down a Saudi drone over Saada, a Houthi stronghold near the border.

The reported strikes came hours after air raid sirens sounded and residents heard explosions in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.

The Houthis also said they fired a ballistic missile toward King Khalid International Airport, which had been hit by deadly attacks in recent days.

The claims came amid attacks and alarms on both sides of the border, but the available details do not confirm who carried out the Yemen strikes.
