Kim Do-young’s final-game homer sends KIA straight to the semi-playoffs

KIA beat LG 4-2 in their final regular-season game in Gwangju, South Korea, on October 12.

The teams were tied 2-2 in the eighth inning when KIA’s Kim Do-young hit a two-run homer.

The win secured KIA third place and a direct place in the semi-playoffs, while LG finished fourth and will play in the wild-card round.

The homer was Kim’s 45th of the season and his 100th in his professional career.

It also made Kim the season’s home-run leader, ahead of KT’s Sam Hilliard, and he finished first in slugging percentage.

The late win gave KIA four days to rest before the next stage.

KIA will play the winner of LG’s wild-card series against Doosan, with the first two semi-playoff games scheduled for October 17 and 18 in Gwangju.
