Apple plans large in-store showcase for its first foldable iPhone
Apple is preparing a major in-store display for the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone.
The phone is due to go on sale on October 23, with pre-orders opening October 16.
Apple plans more than 150 demo units at its Fifth Avenue store in New York and nearly 100 at the Apple Park Visitor Center.
Several other prominent stores are expected to have about 30 to 40 units, while smaller locations will have roughly 20.
New displays will let shoppers see the phone fold and unfold, compare it with regular iPhones, and try some features hands-on.
The demonstrations may help customers judge whether the foldable design is worth the U.S. starting price of $1,999 for the 256GB model.
Apple has enough stock to proceed with the launch, but supplies are expected to be limited, so the number of demo phones does not mean every store will have one available to buy.
