Gaza’s olive harvest falls sharply after war damages trees and presses
Olive farming in Gaza has been badly damaged by the war.
Only eight of the 37 olive presses that operated before the war are still working, and many farmers have left the sector.
This year, Gaza is expected to produce no more than 3,500 tons of olives, compared with about 38,055 tons before the war.
The losses affect people’s income and a crop that is closely tied to Palestinian family life and heritage.
