CSK CEO hopes MS Dhoni will return for IPL 2027

CSK CEO hopes MS Dhoni will return for IPL 2027

MS Dhoni did not play any matches for Chennai Super Kings in the 2026 Indian Premier League because of injury concerns.

Dhoni, now 45, is a former India captain and a long-time player for the Chennai-based team.

CSK chief executive Kasi Viswanathan hopes Dhoni will return for the 2027 season, but says the decision is Dhoni’s.

Dhoni has not publicly said whether he can manage another season of top-level cricket.

He stayed with CSK for much of the 2026 tournament, joining training and supporting the team from the dugout.

Former teammate Suresh Raina has also urged him to return, while former coach Stephen Fleming said Dhoni’s experience helped younger players.

CSK expects Dhoni to tell the team what he decides when he arrives in Chennai.
