AfD wins vote for first regional assembly speaker in Germany
Mainstream German parties have refused to work with the far-right AfD, a policy often called a firewall.
In Saxony-Anhalt, the AfD won a vote to install its first speaker in a regional assembly.
At least four lawmakers from other parties appear to have defied instructions, though the ballot was secret.
The result raises questions about whether the firewall can hold as the AfD gains support.
