Ichikawa Danko to perform three kabuki dances in Kyoto
Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danko will perform in Kyoto from October 16 to 18.
The shows will take place at Kyoto Art Theater Shunjuza, inside Kyoto University of the Arts.
The production, Shinsho Shunshukai, began in 2024 as a place for Danko to develop his skills, and this is its third year.
The program includes three dances: “Uto,” “Sagi Musume” and “Shofuda-tsuki Konegen Kusazuri.”
Danko will take on these roles for the first time, performing both male and female roles.
He has said that female-role acting is a foundation of kabuki.
