Indonesia’s main stock index falls 2.59% to a three-month low

Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite Index, known as the IHSG, fell 2.59% on Monday, October 12.

It ended near the 5,900 level, its lowest point in three months.

Most listed shares fell, with utility stocks among the hardest hit.

Investors were cautious amid rising tensions involving Yemen’s Houthi movement and Saudi Arabia, which could add to uncertainty about oil prices and the wider region.

They were also waiting for inflation figures from the United States and China, as well as China’s trade data.

These figures may influence interest-rate expectations and demand for commodities, which matter to Indonesian companies and markets.

The IMF and World Bank meetings from October 12 to 18, followed by US inflation data and Federal Reserve officials’ remarks on October 14 to 16, were among the next events investors were watching.
