EU market oversight deal leaves Deutsche Börse and BME under national supervision
The EU agreed to give its markets watchdog, ESMA, more power.
But Germany secured rules that keep much of Deutsche Börse under German supervision, and Spain’s BME is also excluded from direct EU oversight.
Eight large trading groups will be supervised directly by ESMA.
The deal is a step toward closer market integration, but national oversight will remain for some major operators.
