Lee plans move to Cheong Wa Dae residence by year-end

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and first lady Kim Hea Kyung are currently living at the official residence in Seoul’s Yongsan Ward.

They plan to move to the presidential residence at Cheong Wa Dae later this year, but no date has been set.

Former President Yoon Suk Yeol moved the presidential office and residence from Cheong Wa Dae to Yongsan in 2022.

After taking office last year, Lee decided to return them to Cheong Wa Dae.

The presidential office completed its move there in December, while work on the residence continues.

Officials say the move depends on completing building checks and preparations.
