Erdoğan sends video message to Turkish diaspora group’s general assembly

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a video message to the ninth general assembly of the International Democrats Union, known as UID.

The organization is based in Germany and works with Turkish communities living abroad.

Erdoğan said its projects help people maintain their identity and culture while contributing to the societies where they live.

He also praised its efforts to address cultural racism, anti-Muslim hostility and xenophobia.

He said the meeting could bring useful results for UID members and the Turkish diaspora, which he described as having more than seven million people.

Erdoğan said Turkish institutions would continue to support people living abroad.
