Hyderabad opens Ranji Trophy season with innings win over Tripura

Hyderabad beat Tripura by an innings and 40 runs on Tuesday in the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy, India’s domestic red-ball cricket tournament.

The win made Hyderabad the first team to record a victory in this season’s competition.

Hyderabad moved top of Group B with seven points after the match.

The Ranji Trophy awards six points for an outright win, plus a bonus point for an innings win or a ten-wicket win.

Teams can also earn points for a first-innings lead or tie even if the match has no outright winner.

The points system rewards both winning outright and gaining an advantage in the first innings, and an outright loss earns no points.
