US temporarily permits Russian diesel sales to global markets
The US Treasury has issued a temporary license allowing sales, delivery and imports of Russian diesel, including imports into the United States.
The license applies to transactions that were previously barred under US sanctions on Russia.
It remains in effect until April 7, 2027.
It does not allow payments to accounts belonging to Russia’s central bank, National Wealth Fund or Finance Ministry at US financial institutions.
Temporary licenses for Russian goods have been issued before and do not change the overall sanctions regime.
US President Donald Trump said Russia had agreed to supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel, with further shipments planned, but the license itself sets no shipment volumes.
