Rare blood flown from Ceará to Minas Gerais for critically ill patient
The patient needed blood that would not trigger a dangerous reaction from their immune system.
A national registry found a matching donor in Ceará, and the blood was flown to Juiz de Fora.
The transport was arranged through a partnership between Brazil’s Health Ministry and airlines.
Finding compatible blood quickly can be difficult because this blood type is very rare.
