Nanjing-Europe car shipping route opens with voyage to Spain and Belgium
A new direct shipping route between Nanjing, China, and Europe began on October 11.
The ship Guangrong left Nanjing Port carrying 1,530 cars from Chinese brands bound for Spain and Belgium.
The route is Nanjing Port’s third direct international roll-on/roll-off service, which carries vehicles onto ships on their wheels.
It gives carmakers in the region a way to send vehicles overseas without first transferring them at a coastal port.
That could shorten shipping times and lower export costs.
Nanjing Port exported about 13,900 cars in 2025 and about 29,100 in the first three quarters of 2026.
The new route is intended to support the international growth of carmakers in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The new route lets vehicles travel from production bases to Europe without first being transferred through coastal ports.
