Hello rental bookings rose more than 120% over China’s National Day holiday

More than 600,000 people rented cars through Hello during China’s National Day holiday, and bookings rose by more than 120%.

The holiday is a busy travel period in China, and more people are using rental cars to explore destinations by road.

Rentals lasting more than eight days increased by over 200%, while 70% of customers booked within three days of departure.

About 30% of bookings involved picking up a car at an airport or high-speed rail station.

Customers also used options such as free cancellation and returning a car in a different place.

Hello said it removed nearly 10,000 listings it identified as showing fake vehicle availability and offered replacement cars when a rental provider could not fulfil a booking.

The company said it will continue working on vehicle supply, service and price protections.
