Giorgio Bracardi, an Italian actor and musician, has died at the age of 93.

His family announced his death.

He was born in Rome and became known for Alto Gradimento, a radio show he helped create with Renzo Arbore, Gianni Boncompagni and Mario Marenco.

The show used invented characters, unusual voices and absurd humor, helping change Italian radio comedy.

Bracardi also appeared on television in Quelli della notte and Striscia la notizia, and acted alongside Bud Spencer in the film Banana Joe.

He began his career as a professional musician, and music shaped the voices and sounds in his comedy.

He had been living in a care home in Fiano Romano after breaking his femur the previous spring.
