Hanwha Eagles appoint national team coach Ryu Ji-hyun as manager

The Hanwha Eagles appointed national team coach Ryu Ji-hyun as their new manager on October 13.

The South Korean professional baseball team said his three-year contract is worth 2 billion won.

The change follows the end of former manager Kim Kyung-moon’s contract.

Ryu previously led the LG Twins to the postseason in 2021 and 2022, and guided South Korea to the 2026 Asian Games baseball title and a World Baseball Classic quarter-final.

Hanwha said it chose him to help build a strong team that can compete over time.

The club also named longtime employee Seok Jang-hyun as general manager, the first Hanwha staff member to hold that role.
