Prime Video has set January 20, 2027, for the launch of Bloodaxe, a historical drama about Norse raider Erik Bloodaxe and his wife, Gunnhild.

All eight episodes of the first season will be released on the same day.

The story follows the couple’s fight for the throne of Norway as rivals, shifting loyalties and betrayals drive the kingdom toward war.

Other Scandinavian rulers and an English king are drawn into the conflict.

The series is set in the 10th century and follows Michael Hirst’s earlier Vikings dramas.

It is produced by MGM Television and stars Xavier Molyneux and Jessica Madsen in the lead roles.

A second season has already been confirmed and is in production in Ireland.

What people are saying
