Riyadh airport strike kills 12 and injures more than 300, drawing condemnation
A strike hit King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, killing 12 people and injuring more than 300, according to aviation authorities.
The Saudi-led coalition blamed Yemen’s Houthi movement, which has claimed responsibility for earlier strikes on Saudi airports.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres and EU leaders condemned the attack and called for assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure to stop.
The EU warned that attacks linked to Iran-backed groups could push the region into a wider cycle of violence.
The airport strike also raised concerns about air travel and the security of transport and energy routes in the region.
US President Donald Trump said Washington may join Saudi strikes against the Houthis, but had not made a decision.
The sources do not say what action Saudi Arabia or its partners will take next.
