Chargers agree to terms with quarterback Jake Browning

The Chargers have agreed to terms with quarterback Jake Browning after Trey Lance went on injured reserve with a groin injury.

The move gives the team another quarterback option while Justin Herbert and DJ Uiagalelei are its only quarterbacks on the 53-player roster.

Browning, 30, spent the past four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals before joining Tampa Bay this offseason and being cut before the preseason.

He has played in 17 NFL games, including 10 starts, and completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 2,707 yards, 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

The team also worked out quarterback Kyle Trask and several other players, and signed wide receiver Luke Grimm to its practice squad.

Browning’s roster status has not been confirmed; it is unclear whether he will join the practice squad or the active roster.
