Shane McClanahan ruled out for the rest of the postseason

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan will not play again during this postseason.

He has not pitched since September 3, when he left with left forearm tightness.

The Rays had hoped he might return during the playoffs, but he was limited to throwing practice and was left off the roster for their series against the Yankees.

McClanahan has a history of major injuries, including two Tommy John surgeries, and also missed time this season with back tightness.

The team will use Drew Rasmussen, Freddy Peralta and Nick Martinez in its rotation as it faces the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series.

The Rays do not have a clear starter for Game 4 and may use several pitchers in a bullpen game.

Manager Kevin Cash said McClanahan should be healthy and ready for spring training.
