Hanwha chairman urges challenge and AI investment on 74th anniversary

Hanwha Group chairman Kim Seung-youn marked the South Korean conglomerate’s 74th anniversary with a message to employees.

He said the group should face geopolitical conflicts and fast-changing business conditions directly.

Hanwha began in explosives and later expanded into areas including machinery, chemicals, finance, energy, defence, shipbuilding and aerospace.

Kim called on its businesses to take responsibility, focus their resources and keep taking on challenges.

He also urged the group to build artificial intelligence capabilities across fields including finance, machinery and services.

His message also stressed workplace safety after an explosion at a Hanwha Aerospace site in Daejeon in June killed five workers and injured two.

Kim said safety must come before other values and called for workplaces where employees and their families can feel secure.
