SK chairman challenges 33% property division in divorce appeal
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won is challenging a court ruling in his divorce case with former wife Roh Soh-yeong.
The Seoul High Court ordered him to pay Roh 944 billion won, equal to 33.3% of the property being divided.
Chey filed his challenge with South Korea’s Supreme Court as part of an appeal he began in August.
The dispute follows years of legal proceedings after Chey started divorce proceedings in 2017.
In its latest ruling, the appeals court did not count an alleged 30 billion-won fund linked to Roh’s late father as her contribution to the marriage, saying it would have been illegal money.
Chey also disputes the court’s decision to consider the rise in SK shares when setting Roh’s share.
Roh has until Tuesday to submit her response to the Supreme Court.
