Turkey opens Çerkezköy-Kapıkule high-speed rail line
Turkey has opened the Çerkezköy-Kapıkule high-speed rail line.
After the opening ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a test run from Babaeski to Lüleburgaz.
He said the route would cut passenger travel time between Halkalı and Kapıkule from four hours to 1.5 hours.
He also said freight travel time would fall from 8.5 hours to 3.5 hours.
Shorter journeys could make travel and moving goods across the route faster.
